Sunlight touches my skin
A common greeting, but
the pain will soon begin.
Warmth is replaced by discomfort.
Sandpaper slowly moves across my skin.
I try to pace to escape.
The pain is all too familiar
I begin to wince, but there is no mercy
For pain like sizzling grease covers my skin
But there is no relief from this hell,
Until I return back to the shadows
Sheltered from my supposed friend.
